ASPH has the institutional knowledge required to address the needs of both the schools of public health and public health agencies. As the nation’s only representative of accredited schools of public health for over 50 years, and as liaison between the schools, government, other professional bodies, and the public, ASPH is uniquely qualified and positioned to: (a) Strengthen and support schools of public health and (b) bring together the fields of academic public health and practice. It works with various agencies of the federal government on projects aimed at strengthening public health education and research and the public health profession. It assists its member schools in the development and coordination of national health policies, and it serves as an information center for governmental and private groups and individuals whose concerns overlap those of higher education for public health.
