VA performs financial counseling in some cases to provide veteran-borrowers the maximum assistance possible to retain their home during periods of temporary financial difficulty. VA uses the information collected to help borrowers who are seriously delinquent on guaranteed or insured VA home loans to budget and establish a repayment schedule for the loan.
